Welcome to our family run, village pub in the heart of picturesque Messing. Here you can find quality food and great drinks in a friendly, relaxed environment.

We offer a frequently changing, seasonal A la Carte menu from Monday to Saturday, with traditional and hearty Sunday Roasts to finish off the week.

We’re open for drinks all day with local beers and ale on tap from Essex and Suffolk breweries, as well as a fine selection of wines, spirits and non-alcoholic options.

It was my first visit to The Old Crown and I cannot wait to go back again. It is such a Lovely Restaurant where you are made to feel so welcome by the friendly and very efficient Staff. The Food is absolutely delightful and I was spoilt for choice. I could not fault the place in any way. I can thoroughly recommend this wonderful establishment. We have always loved eating at the Old Crown Pub but today’s visit was the best ever! The food was top notch and the service was excellent ~ the staff were so genuinely interested and friendly, whilst being totally professional at the same time… a rare balance. We shared the Ploughman's tapas starter which was so good and more than enough for two. I then had the chicken skewers and my husband had the fish pie.
